Yasir Hossain: How A Director of Product Built a Creative Control Center at Home with Vernal

Yasir Hossain is currently the director of product for a streaming tech company. As a hybrid product manager, he combines hands-on experience in product design and full-stack engineering to create immersive content experiences across devices. He now oversees audience-centric product and technology for a top streaming platform.

Both a programmer and a designer, Yasir is deeply involved in digital art and coding projects. Outside of work, he enjoys experimenting with tech and startup ideas on his home computer. “Overall, I am driven by my passion for creating immersive content experiences and developing innovative product strategies that drive business growth,” he says.

With Vernal, create a space that truly feels like my own

“We're trying to make it feel like home. We've got a bunch of new furniture and equipment, like the Vernal desk was bought for this new space.”

Yasir and his wife had just moved into a new home, and they wanted to make the space feel more like their own. On Pinterest, Yasir created mood boards to capture the aesthetic he envisioned and narrowed down the style he wanted for his space before starting to choose the right desk.

He’s no stranger to standing desks. “before that, I set up a home office, like probably everyone did and then spent a lot of time working from home. During that time, I invested in a good desk and all that kind of stuff, and realized that I really like a standing desk, mainly so that way I can take meetings while standing or sit down and code.” So when it came to his new workspace, he wanted to find the ideal standing desk.

I was worried the product might not fit the space, but Vernal put my mind at ease.

After settling on the overall style of his space, Yasir grew a bit concerned that any product he bought might not match the aesthetic. “ I was going to be locked in with the decision of what the room was going to be like as soon as I did it, because then like what if I got like different like shelving or whatever, then would it match the whole thing? I don't know.”

Yasir needs to do a lot of deep work and creative ideation in his workspace. When my space feels organized and intentional, I can think more clearly and lead more effectively.”

At the same time, while seeking workspace inspiration, Yasir realized that the most impactful setups weren’t just minimal—they were personalized. Many office spaces on Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram showcase style and individuality. These personal touches influence how one thinks and works in that environment. “If I go into my creative space, when I walk in, a lot of my personality is represented. It’s like when I actually get to working mode, I’m inspired as I open up the apps on my monitor. For me, I like this idea that when I look around, I’m inspired within the room.”

Regarding Vernal, Yasir appreciates the combination of utility, functionality, and visual aesthetic. With Vernal, he has created a workspace that is not only beautiful and practical but also gives him the sense that he’s “already in creation mode.” The space acts like a blank canvas, which he can continually refine at his own pace, ensuring it always serves his present needs—whether switching between coding and design tasks or diving deep into late-night bursts of inspiration and flow.
